Are restaurant portions getting smaller because of the Credit Crunch?
CSG asked:
I have been out tonight and realised that food portions were half the size they normally are and restaurants have decided to put more ice in the drinks reducing liquid amounts, i have also noticed that they never give the half full can with the glass, is this a sign of the credit crunch?

That sounds right, and it’s not only restaurants. Department and grocery stores are stocked with overpriced items that rose in price by a lot.

My hubby said last weekend the past few months when we leave a restaurant we have no to go boxes we have finished everything.
The portions were cut in half and the prices have risen.I stll even think olive garden avg price for meal at 15.00 to take three kids out me and my hubby it’s a 100.00 dinner you know?then i think of everything I can buy at the grocery store for that..is it worth it?No we watch when we eat out make sure we use coupons or specials and cook more..
drinks are 2.00 bucks each here in fla at least some places have them at 2.25.

I work at Outback Steakhouse and some things have gotten smaller but I don’t think the prices have gone up that much. The 12 oz Sirloin is still 12 oz and in the 9 years i have worked there it has only go up 4 dollars. When I started working there it was 12.99 now its 16.95. One thing I have noticed that got smaller was the Kid mac and salads. I guess because it costs them more to make and when I started to work there adding a salad would cost 1.99 now its 2.50 so only .51 cents more in 9 years not that bad I think.
